A shift in focus to Practical SharePoint Guidance

If you’ve followed the work we do at 21apps over the past few years you will know that we like to do things a little differently, to think outside of the box and try new things.  Many of you have indicated you like what we do, find it interesting and hopefully we will have inspired some you along the way.

However we also get feedback that we’re just too far out there, 5 years ahead of the curve and nice as these approaches seem it’ll never happen here; and that makes for an unhappy 21apps. So it’s time to refocus and really start ‘Inspiring people to change the way they work’ but this time not just the few, but the many.

With this pivot / change in focus it also marks a change in the way 21apps is structured.  Going forward 21apps is me (@AndrewWoody) – working with a range of partners, associates and just damn good people.

Practical SharePoint Guidance

What does this mean to you?  and is it relevant?

Remember when  Microsoft decided that Security was important, they introduced Trustworthy computing and from that point forward everything they did had to align to this goal.

Well it’s the same for us, everything we produce now, be it training courses, blog posts, user group sessions, conference speaking or whatever will have to align to the ideas around Practical SharePoint Guidance.

The questions asked include

  • Is this relevant to most SharePoint users?
  • Can this be adopted easily?
  • Does it provide practical help that people can just use, now?
  • How would your average SharePoint implementation benefit
  • Is this just theory with no application

This should mean that you get much more immediate value from 21apps, our blogging, speaking, training and consulting.

What about Thought Leadership?

Some of you follow the us because we do new things and bring new ideas,  are we dropping all of that?  The answer is no, we won’t stop looking at ways to improve, reading challenging books and learning new techniques, but we will always be looking at how this could be used to provide Practical SharePoint Guidance that is relevant to you today.

Why just SharePoint?

The focus for the foreseeable future will be very SharePoint centric,  this is where we have the most experience and where there is most demand.  But more importantly to make this practical we frame the information we promote so that people can use it, immediately and in their current context.

And through this practical approach we will start to provide more technical examples and content as this is often where people find the initial challenges.

A question to start with

If there are specific things that you think we do today that you think could be made more Practical let us know,  and hopefully we can Inspire many more of you to change the way they work! Smile
